Steven Claes

Dr. Steven Claes, MD, PhD is a knee surgeon trained in the University Hospitals of Leuven and Ghent in Belgium, with a specific expertise in knee instabilities and sports injuries. He has performed extensive research on the anatomy, biomechanics and clinical implications surrounding the anterolateral ligament (ALL) of the knee, for which he attained a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2013. His research was awarded with the biennial John Joyce Award at the 2013 ISAKOS meeting in Toronto and with the Best Paper in Ligament and Biomechanics at the 2014 ESSKA meeting in Amsterdam.

Dr Claes is currently appointed as a staff member to the Orthopedic Department at the AZH Hospital in Herentals and acts as a knee consultant at the Orthopedic Department of the University Hospitals in Leuven. At the 3rd Lovisenberg Osteotomy Course he will present on accuracy and where to correct to in osteotomies around the knee. He will also participate in a surgical technique demonstration regarding the latest osteotomy surgical procedures he performs.
