Arne Ekeland

Professor emeritus Arne Ekeland completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Oslo. He is a specialist in general surgery and orthopaedic surgery after clinical training in 3 university clinics in Oslo. In 1990 he was appointed professor of orthpaedic surgery at the University of Oslo and chief surgeon of the surgical departments, Ullevaal University Hospital. In 1996 he moved to Martina Hansens Hospitel, Bærum as hospital director and chief surgeon of the orthopaedic department.

Ekeland started with opening wedge osteotomies around the knee stabilized with the Puddu plate and bone grafting in 2000.

Professor Ekeland is currently working part time at the orthopaedic polyclinic, Martina Hansens Hospital, and he also follow-up patients with high tibial and low femoral opening wedge osteotomies in a prospective study. At the 3rd Lovisenberg Osteotomy Course he will give presentations on lateral open wedge femoral osteotomies, technique and results and on functional results after tibial and femoral osteotomies
